Five years ago, alumni from the New England Region gathered together to discuss the possibility of banding together into an alumni association recognized by Phi Theta Kappa.

On March 6, 2005, following the New England Regional Convention at Manchester Community College in Connecticut, what was once a possibility became a reality. Forty-five alumni with their roots firmly planted in New England signed the charter binding them together as the New England Region Alumni Association, or NERA. Though some now live outside the New England area, they will always be valued members of the association.

NERA is made up of members from all walks of Phi Theta Kappa. Most have served as chapter officers; some were regional or international officers; and a few even serve now as chapter advisors. One trait they all have in common is their dedication to the New England Region. Their mission is to support and promote the people and programs of Phi Theta Kappa in New England.

Most noticeably, NERA has been involved with the logistics of the events held each year. Alumni members have contributed by presenting workshops and handling registration tasks both on-site and prior to the Regional Leadership Conference in the fall and the Regional Convention in the spring. NERA members, working with the Regional Advisory Board, have also been instrumental in the restructuring process of regional elections.

Through its members€™ support and participation, NERA can continue to make a difference in the New England region.
