Michael Rood Transfer Opportunity Scholarship

In 2009, NERA launched its first scholarship, the Michael Rood Transfer Opportunity Scholarship. This scholarship will award two active chapter members with $100 to help defray their transfer application costs. This scholarship was formed to create an opportunity for students who plan to transfer from their two-year college to a four-year university. It was named in honor of Alpha Lambda Zeta (Asnuntuck Community College) advisor Michael Rood. Mike has been very instrumental in helping New England Phi Theta Kappans have one of the highest Phi Theta Kappa scholarship success rates by hosting scholarship workshop sessions at regional events and helping countless members with their college applications and interviews over the years. Mike Rood is a fellow NERA members, as well as Regional Advisory Board member, and we’ve dedicated this scholarship to him for his dedication to the students.
